Six young Stanfordians, along with their Limpopo Vikings teammates, can be extremely proud of themselves for winning the cup final for their age category at the World Youth Rugby Festival in Los Angeles during the holidays!
On day one of the sevens tournament, the lads won all three of their matches, with results as follows:
Limpopo Vikings 31 vs 0 Kahu Rugby Limpopo Vikings 43 vs 7 USA Schools Limpopo Vikings 22 vs 19 Mpumalanga Mustangs
Day two saw the boys win two matches with comfortable margins but lose one game against the Crusaders:
Limpopo Vikings 21 vs 26 Crusaders Limpopo Vikings 22 vs 0 USA Schools Limpopo Vikings 45 vs 0 Rhino’s Rugby Academy
Day 3 was the cup semi-final, where the Limpopo Vikings won against the Rhino’s Rugby Academy with a score of 49 – 12.
The next day was the final event and the Limpopo Vikings went head to head against the Mpumalanga Mustangs. The Limpopo lads dominated play and the score ended 31 – 0.
Congratulations to all the players who took part, you have made your respective schools extremely proud! Coach Mr Pietersen, you certainly did a fine job of training the team in order to prepare them for the tournament.
