On Saturday 20th February, the first race of the Limpopo XCO Series was held at Summerplace Farm Stay in Vaalwater. This was one of the most technical and intense races that the Limpopo Series has ever held. There was some great riding from the Stanford pupils. I (Gunther Katzke) won the Junior Men category and Gordon Noel took the win in the Sub Junior Boys. In the Youth Girls category, Lianke Fourie took fourth place just missing the podium. Lennon Masvopo came in 10th position in the Youth Boys category, followed by Tristan Brett in 11th. Unfortunately, Herman Fourie, a race favourite, suffered a huge crash in the first lap and ended up in ICU but he is recovering well and will be back on the bike in no time. All in all, it was a good first race to start the season. Well done to everyone who raced, I hope to see more Stanfordians there to participate in the future. - Gunther Katzke
