Inter-House Athletics News

Friday 20th and Saturday 21st January were a festival of competition, fun and colour. Our annual Interhouse Athletics competition was a huge success and the spirit amongst the pupil body throughout the event was infectious. The Sports and Facilities staff had worked ex - ceptionally hard in the preceding week, and the fields were looking spectacular. The weather, for once, also played its part, with no rain and some very hot conditions.

The competition started on Friday afternoon with the 3000m and long hurdles events. Many pupils really put themselves out there by taking part in events that they were not used to doing in the past, demonstrating a real Honey Badger attitude. Saturday was no different with the House Captains doing an excellent job at ensuring that nearly every single event was fully manned.

An incredible total of 14 records were broken over the two days. Most of these by dedicated pupils who had trained consistently over the December holidays. The fantastic spirit and energy shown by the pupils rubbed off on the spectators, with our alumni chal - lenging parents, staff and the U/19 boys to a relay race, which was surprisingly competitive! Despite a full day of events in the scorch - ing sun, the current matrics absolutely smoked everyone. The two male alumni teams crossed the line in second and third place. The staff came in 4th, the parents in 5th, and the girls’ alumni in 6th. A big shout out to Dr Ndhlovu, Mr Dando, Mr Alcock and Mr Stewart for being such good sports and getting stuck in.

Despite all three Houses giving it their all, it was Orvis that won the overall competition, followed closely by Fenwick in second, and Loomis in third. A massive congratulations to all Badgers that took part and contributed to a successful 25th Interhouse Athletics.
